Scratch and Peck Feeds Cluckin’ Good Poultry Grit is available in three convenient sizes – Chick and Layer. We recommend Chick Grit from hatching to 8 weeks and Layer Grit for all laying hens. Broilers should switch directly from the Chick Grit to the Layer Grit at 4 weeks of age. A required feeding supplement, Cluckin’ Good Poultry Grit is necessary for the healthy development of a chicken’s gizzard. The gizzard aids in digestion, and allows for maximum nutrient benefits from poultry feed. Made up of insoluble crushed quartzite or granite, grit remains in the bird’s gizzard to help with digestion. Grit is an essential part of your bird’s diet and should always be provided, especially if there is no access to small rocks. If you have bantams or smaller hens, our Cluckin’ Good Layer Grit may be too large for their size, so you may want to continue to provide them with Cluckin’ Good Grower Grit.
